    Pupil Premium

The government believes that the pupil premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for pupil premium funding and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

It is for schools to decide how the pupil premium, allocated to schools per qualifying pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.

At National Church of England Academy we are committed to ensuring that every student reaches their full potential. The additional funding allows us to offer a variety of support services and opportunities tailored to the specific needs of our students eligible for pupil premium funding.

The provision is subject to the needs of the individual and can include:

    • Academic Support: Extra intervention and support, or small group interventions in subjects where students need additional help.
    • Access to Resources: Provision of necessary learning materials, revision guides, textbooks, or digital devices to support learning both at school and at home.
    • Access to equipment: this includes stationary and specialised equipment such as scientific calculators
    • Enrichment Activities: Financial support for school trips, extracurricular activities, and enrichment programs to provide wider learning experiences.
    • Well-being Support: Additional support from the pastoral team such as heads of year and tutors
    • Uniform and Equipment Assistance: Help with the cost of school uniforms and essential school equipment to ease financial pressures.

New measures have been included in the performance tables that capture the achievement of those disadvantaged students covered by the pupil premium. From September 2012, academies and schools have been required to publish online information about how the premium has been used.
