Admission appeals for MITRE schools
For applications made for the Academic Year 2023-24
If an application for a school place is refused there is the right to appeal that decision. All appeals will be heard by an independent panel and will be clerked independently.
Appellants have 20 school days from the date of notification that their application was unsuccessful to prepare and lodge their written appeal. An appeal form should be obtained from the school, completed and returned to the school to lodge an appeal.
Each appellant has the right to 10 school days’ notice of an appeal hearing, although this can be waived with the agreement of all parties.
For applications made in the normal admissions round, appeals will be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals. For in-year applications, appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
