Appeals & In-Year Transfers

Right to appeal

When requests for admission are refused the applicants (and students in the case of sixth form) will be informed in writing of the reasons by the Clerk to the Directors’ Admissions Committee together with their rights of appeal.

For admissions into the intake year through the co-ordinated admissions scheme, Nottinghamshire County Council (or the home local authority) will inform applicants of the outcome of their application together with their rights of appeal.

Appeals are heard by independent appeal panels. Applicants have a right of appeal within 20 academy days following the date of refusal. For further information and instruction on how to appeal, contact:

Offers communicated to Nottinghamshire parents including offers on behalf of own admission authority schools and schools within other local authorities. Emails sent to Nottinghamshire parents who applied online and opted to receive an email. Letters are posted second class.

Monday 29 March 2021 Deadline for lodging an appeal.
Tuesday 15 June 2021 Last date on-time appeals can be heard.


In Year Transfers

All MITRE schools administer their own in-year admissions by direct application. Please use the form here to make an application and return the form to the school.  The outcome of your application will be sent in writing within 15 school days.

Applications for in-year transfer should be made directly to the academy. If you wish to apply for a place please download the form below. For further information, please contact the academy Admissions Officer on 0115 963 5667. 

For the period from 1 November 2021 up to 31 August 2022, all in year transfer applications will be processed by the academy. 

To apply for an in year transfer for your child, please complete the in year transfer application form and return directly to the academy, for the attention of Admissions.  The form can be found here.

Anyone applying for an in year transfer should also read the relevant Admissions Arrangements.

If you also require a supplementary form to support your application under the ‘Faith’ criteria, the supplementary form can be found here.  This form should also be returned directly to the Academy.

Parents/ carers will be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of receipt by the academy of the application.  If the application is unsuccessful, there is a right of appeal – to appeal please contact Rothera Sharp Solicitors, contact details are as above.
